WOW! What amazing families we have! We raised a total of $1745.51 (including $352.61 in coins) from our class alone! The children had a great time with all our games - especially the piggy pop! For the third year in a row, the Wellington Preparatory School and the WPPC will be organizing a "Feed the Piggy" charity drive in recognition of Childhood Cancer awareness month. Childhood cancer is the number one cause of death by disease in children. Every year, over 15,000 new children are diagnosed with cancer and more than 40,000 children undergo cancer treatment every year. Currently, all types of childhood cancers combined receive only 4% of the US federal funding for cancer researching in the past 20 years only two treatments have been approved.
Over the past couple of years, our Wellington Prep families and students have raised thousands during the month of September to benefit different childhood cancer foundations. This year we will be raising funds for two great organizations: St Baldrick's Foundation - www.stbaldricks.org As the largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants, St. Baldrick's has a mission to find cures for childhood cancers and it give survivors long and healthy lives. Kids Cancer Foundation - www.kidscancersf.org The mission of the Kids Cancer Foundation is to provide hope and support to local Wellington and Royal Palm Beach children and families battling childhood cancer. This is accomplished by providing compassionate, easily accessible, supportive care services. Please help us in our continued efforts to teach our students the importance of helping others and giving back. From September 23-30, each class will have a piggy bank that will be decorated by the students to collect donations. The class that has the most donations will receive a special surprise! Donate today to support a great cause!!!!!!!! |
